Genetic Strength and Why

La Troienne never had a named foal by a sire free of a male strain of Domino, so if there is La Troienne present, then there is male Domino present (see article on this site regarding La Troienne). War Admiral is out of a Sweep mare, he a son of Pink Domino by Domino. So a sex switch to Domino is automatic when War Admiral is crossed on La Troienne.

These strains emanate from three basic sources:

Group I

Striking, Busher and Mr. Busher are full siblings - all stakes winners. They are out of Baby League [Bubbling Over / La Troienne]. Note War Admiral and Bubbling Over are out of Sweep mares. While Bubbling Over is not a Domino line horse, his dam is tripled to Domino (via daughter Pink Domino, son Commando, and daughter Dominoes) and is further compounded by Lady Reel (dam of Hamburg), a five-eighths sister to Domino. The sisters Striking and Busher are 3X3 in My Charmer, dam of Seattle Slew. Striking is also third dam of Champion Numbered Account. Mr. Busher was a modest sire and can be found in the dams of El Gran Senor and Phone Trick and sired the good producer Fast Line from Throttle Wide.

Group II

Busanda and Blue Eyed Momo are out of sisters Businesslike and Big Event by Blue Larkspur out of La Troienne. Busanda is immortal as she is dam of Buckpasser and Blue Eyed Momo is dam of Francis S., he the sire of Gonfalon, dam of Ogygian, he the damsire of Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) hero Johannesburg. Gonfalon is also second dam of Honour And Glory.

Group III

Searching is out of Big Hurry by Black Toney from La Troienne. While the likes of Allez France, Noble Bijou and Personality descend from Searching, it becomes a group quickly when we get to Glowing Tribute and her mob including Sea Hero, Hero's Honor, and Wild Applause.

Summarizing, any of the War Admiral / La Troienne in either group are three-quarter siblings to those in the other two groups. Big Event and Businesslike have three sisters - Belle of Troy, Bee Ann Mac and Belle Histoire. Big Hurry has a brother / sister tandem in Bimelech and Black Helen. Better Self, damsire of Silent Screen and Dr. Fager. is by Bimelech out of Bee Mac by War Admiral to reverse the sex of the more prevalent mares above.

The opportunities for linebreeding are immense. The proof of linebreeding is that crossing the common ancestor[s] give superior runners. The likes of Relaxing, My Charmer and Numbered Account and their get should help prove that statement. My Flag is another.

The news is that tripling is also producing good stakes winners. Mutakkdim is doubled to Buckpasser with five lines of La Troienne and got Treasure Coast Gem out of Twice Crowned, she tail female to Busanda, dam of Buckpasser. Publication is by Petionville, 3X4 Buckpasser, from a mare whose dam is by Private Account, he from Numbered Account by Buckpasser. Sea Hero [Busanda/Searching] got Desert Hero from an East Goer mare, he from Relaxing by Buckpasser, she doubled to La Troienne. Talkin Man should be heard from, as well.

There are endless projections of possible combinations reflecting these triples which will surely lead to quadrupling and so on. Look for mares by El Gran Senor, Slew o' Gold, Easy Goer, Private Account, Woodman and the like to factor into this scenario. Another key is Honour And Glory [2X Big Event anchored by Blue Eyed Momo] who should love Buckpasser [Busanda] and others carrying the War Admiral / La Troienne cross.

Add the fact that Buckpasser mares will be the second dam of more sires in addition to Danehill and half-brothers A.P. Indy, Summer Squall and Honor Grades and you can see the bewildering set of possibilities facing today's breeders. For instance, Jump Start is by A.P. Indy [Striking/ Busher/ Busanda] with his second dam a sister to Miswaki [Busanda].
